ASF Lyric Synchronization Tutorial

If you have come this far, you must have encoded some ASF files and are familiar where the Windows Media ASF Indexer is located on your hard drive. If you need to locate both versions of Windows Media Tools you can find them here: wmtools and wmtools 7.1
Also Windows Media Encoder 9 Series is available with "Windows Media File Editor

I used "ASF Indexer Ver 4.00.3845" from "wmtools" in these tutorials, and think you will have less problems following these tutorials if you use the same Indexer I did.

I think 9 series is very good, and only difference I found out from  Steve Mac is that you have to hand type in "CAPTION" in Ver 9 Script Command Properties Type box.

Have fun, take your time and don't take things too seriously. :-)

After installing Media tools, you will find the Indexer here: Click Start ~ Programs
~ Windows Media ~ Windows Media ASF Indexer as in graphic below

This will appear:

Click File ~ Open ~ navigate to ASF file you want to sync.
(With "Windows Media File Editor" you can open a WMA file)
I keep all my converted ASF's & WMA's in C: Converted Music
where they are stored by default when converted. If you need
to convert a WMA file to ASF, simply rename the WMA to ASF.
When ASF file is selected, you will get this:

You now need to fill in Properties & start Sync. Lets fill in properties
and with first line of sync done.

Sync. Illustration 1

It's obvious how we filled in Properties
Here's how we did first line of lyrics to sync with ASF
First of all I got the lyrics from here:
http://www.twin-music.com/lyrics
Also you may have to go to Google and search for lyrics.

So with lyrics printed and in front of me ~ I clicked play ~ the moment
I heard the first word, "No" I clicked pause
I then clicked Edit Script Commands

I then Clicked New
And got this

Notice the time 00:00:13.2
If you felt you were a heart beat slow change time to 00:00:11.0
You will learn to use your judgment after you have done a few

Click Type down arrow & select Caption
In Parameter line, type first line of ASF ~ No cares for me
Click OK ~ You get this:

Click OK ~ You will get Illustration 1 above.
We have synced one line ~ follow same procedure to do them all.
